Beating June 1934
Posted: 09 Jun 2021 04:55 AM
June has gotten off to a hot start and with the dry conditions over parts of the state, comparisons to
the infamous "Dust Bowl" have been floating around. The featured chart presents a comparison
between the warmest June for Ames (1934) for average temperature and scenarios based on this
year's month to date accumulated value with each previous June's data appended onto the end.
None of these scenarios are able to top the 1934 value, which was really boosted by an epic warm
start to that month. The forecast continues the warm temperatures, but overnight values are not too
bad, which is also pulling down the average some.
