13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

FLOODING ACROSS CARTER AND UNICOI COUNTIES.  HIGHWAY 321 IS 
IMPASSABLE IN SPOTS...

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southern Carter County in east Tennessee...
  Unicoi County in east Tennessee...

* Until 1000 AM EDT Saturday.

* At 118 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported numerous roadway 
  flooding across the area.  Highway 321 is impassable in parts of 
  county.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Numerous roadways have 
  signficant flooding across Carter and Unicoi counties.  Highway 
  321 is impassable in spots. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS 
  SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flooding. Runoff from recent heavy
           rains continue to produce significant flooding across
           the warned area.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
           HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of
           low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Johnson City, Erwin, Hampton, Banner Hill, Unicoi, Limestone Cove, 
  Roane Mountain State Park, Roan Mountain, Hampton Creek Cove State 
  Park, Elk Mills and Rocky Fork.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
