* At 614 AM EST, Emergency management reported numerous flooded 
  roads, water rescues and evacuations across portions of Catwaba 
  County. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen since 
  yesterday. Flash flooding is ongoing.  The most threatened areas 
  include, but are not limited to the Lyle, Snow and Falling Creek 
  drainages.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Greater Newton, Conover and 
  Hickory. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER 
  GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  Northeastern Catawba County in the piedmont of North Carolina...

* Until 1100 PM EST Thursday.

* At 457 PM EST, Lookout Shoals Lake crested above 108 feet earlier 
  this afternoon and is now slowly receding.  However, it remains 
  above Major Flood Stage and will not fall below Major Flood Stage 
  until around 8pm.  Thereafter, it will remain above Moderate Flood 
  Stage and significant flooding will continue into the overnight 
  hours.

* At 106 feet, devastating, widespread structural flooding in the 
  Carpenters Cove community and near the intersection of Longfield 
  St and Shadeview Ln is ongoing. Significant inundation of crawl 
  spaces and basements is underway. Unelevated, first-floor flooding 
  is beginning. Evacuations should be complete, but water rescuses 
  may be ongoing.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Lookout Shoals. This is a 
  PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!
