13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
South central Beauregard Parish in southwestern Louisiana...
North central Calcasieu Parish in southwestern Louisiana...
* Until 315 AM CDT.
* At 1215 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain with radar estimates of eight to ten inches already
fallen. Storms are focused along a boundary in northeast Calcasieu
parish. High water rescue is currently on going at this time.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
north Lake Charles, Moss Bluff, Buhler and Gillis.
Additional rainfall amounts of four to six inches will
be possible in the warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

SOUTH CENTRAL BEAUREGARD AND NORTH CENTRAL CALCASIEU PARISHES...
At 1254 AM CDT, emergency management reported flash flooding in
northern Calcasieu Parish. Eight to twelve inches of rain have
fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
THIS IS A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR areas near Moss Bluff, Gillis,
Ragley, and Topsey. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
HIGHER GROUND NOW!
Numerous roadways are covered with water including Highways 171 and
27. Many secondary roadways are impassable. High water rescues are
ongoing.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
