13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Sampson County in central North Carolina...
* Until 945 AM EDT Sunday
* At 333 AM EDT, local law enforcement officials reported four high
water rescues currently in Clinton and Turkey. Up to 20" of
rainfall has fallen since Hurricane Florence made landfall. Travel
along Interstate 40 east of Interstate 95 all the way to the North
Carolina coast is strongly discouraged. Flash flooding is
occurring now!
This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Sampson County. This is a
PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Clinton, Harrells, Roseboro, Garland, Newton Grove, Salemburg,
Turkey, Hobbton and Ivanhoe.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from the heavy rain will cause flash flooding of
creeks and streams, roads, low lying and poor drainage areas. Do not
drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. Many roads
and intersections in the area will quickly flood. When encountering
flooded roads, turn around, don't drown.
