The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Wayne County in central North Carolina...

* Until 1230 AM EDT

* At 935 PM EDT, emergency management officials reported heavy rain 
  across the warned area. Up to 11 inches of rain has already 
  fallen. Emergency management officials also are reporting that 
  five high water rescues have already taken place. Flash flooding 
  is already occurring.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for southern Wayne County. This a 
PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Walnut Creek, Seven Springs, Mar-Mac,
  Brogden, Cliffs Of The Neuse State Park, Elroy and Grantham.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Excessive runoff from the heavy rain will cause flash flooding of
creeks and streams, roads, low lying and poor drainage areas. Do not
drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. Many roads
and intersections in the area will quickly flood. When encountering
flooded roads, turn around, don't drown.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR WAYNE COUNTY IS CANCELLED...

Heavy rainfall continues across southern Wayne county this morning. 
After speaking with the EOC, high water rescues have stopped this 
morning as rainfall rates have let up. Due to this the Flash Flood 
Emergency has been cancelled. Flooded roadways still exist across 
Wayne county and therefore Flash Flood Warning #54 continues.
