Guttenberg White Christmas
Posted: 25 Dec 2024 03:01 PM
With above freezing temperatures forecast for this week, there was concern that all of the snow from last week would be gone by Christmas morning for all of Iowa. Clouds and fog conspired to save a White Christmas for a very limited area of far northeastern Iowa and some slivers of extreme northern Iowa. One such location was Guttenberg (Clayton County), which reported a three inch snow depth this morning. The featured chart presents the Christmas Day snow depth reports for the site. The deepest snow plotted occurred during the severe winter of 2000-2001. If you were fortunate to observe snow on the ground in Iowa today, this snow will not last much longer with numerous rounds of rain in the forecast over the coming days.
