This past weekend featured some chilly temperatures along with a brisk wind, which was a remarkable departure from the previous weekend with highs in the 80s. The NWS issued a number of freeze and frost headlines for each day of the weekend as the warm spring had some sensitive vegetation in a vulnerable state. The featured map presents a minimum temperature analysis over the weekend, including Friday morning, based on the 15 minute NCEP RTMA. This analyses is generally able to capture some topographic effects at 2.5 km resolution and some of those can be readily seen over the Mississippi River.
