This year has seen the NWS issue many Dense Fog Advisories with far western Iowa under one this Monday morning. The featured map presents the number of such advisories issued per county so far this year. Carroll and Crawford county lead this tally with 13. The lack of cold and dry continental air masses from areas to our north is one of the reasons why we continue to see so much fog as air temperatures are easily able to cool off to the dew point supported by elevated humidity levels. The near term forecast has even warmer temperatures and lows forecast above freezing, which seems to be supportive of more fog!
