Yesterday's daily feature presented a Gantt Chart of recent NWS watch, warnings, and advisories showing how active recent winter weather has been for Iowa. Today's image presents similar data, but localized for Ames with wind chill observations from the airport overlain. This plot covers ten days and most of the period was covered by either a wind chill warning or advisory. The difference between the two is how cold wind chill values are forecast to get with the warning covering the coldest possible values generally below -30°F. Warmer weather arrived in Iowa on Monday with temperatures even slightly above freezing for some in the state, but freezing rain was a problem for others and continues to be a problem this Tuesday morning.
