Posted: 03 Jan 2024 05:30 AM

While many would have liked to have seen some snow, the precipitation event over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day brought much needed rainfall to the state with a number of locations picking up over an inch. Among the long term climate sites that the IEM tracks, Corning reported the largest 24 hour total with just under 1.70 inches reported on Christmas Day at 7 AM. This total ranks 3rd largest on record for the site during the month of December. The largest value of 2.22 inches was from the epic rainfall event during 12-14 December 2015.
