Temperatures warmed again very nicely for most of the state on Tuesday with a few locations again able to reach the lower 80s. Needless to say, this is doing quite well for late October. The featured chart presents IEM computed hourly temperature extremes for the last half of October for Cedar Rapids. This plot indicates that the noon temperature of 78 degrees and 1 PM temperature of 80 were both the highest on record for the site. Please note that this site's period of record only goes back to the early 1970s. The high temperature yesterday of 82 at Cedar Rapids was able to tie the daily record set way back in 1899.
