With the close of the meteorological winter season yesterday, it is a good time to check in on some metrics. The featured map presents IEM computed climate district ranks for precipitation for the December through February period. There is quite the contrast over the Midwestern US with locations in Ohio and Minnesota within the top ten wettest and then much of Nebraska and Kansas within the top ten driest since 1893. March has started off dry for Iowa, but the weather will get a bit more active later in the week. There continues to be a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, which would certainly help it to feel a bit more spring like.
