Since we like to feature statistical plots on this website, the featured chart presents the trailing 91 day average temperature for Ames. The maximum value plotted each year would represent the warmest consecutive 91 day period each year, which perhaps could be considered the actual summer season! The 2021 value appears to be set now with the peak on 2 September and not much chance of pulling that average higher over the coming days.
