Wild August Differences

Posted: 30 Aug 2021 05:33 AM

Significant rainfall events again frequented the state over the weekend and parts of northern Iowa that were in drought are now dealing with flooding. The featured map presents August rainfall estimates courtesy of the Iowa Flood Center at the University of Iowa. These RADAR based estimates show wild differences over the state with isolated locations approaching 20 inches and others below an inch. More thunderstorm chances are in the forecast for this week, but thankfully a bit cooler temperatures are as well. Some areas of the state still need rainfall, but others can't barely take a drop more! An amazing and wild month it has been.
