Five Degree Cold High Beat
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 05:46 AM
High temperatures on Tuesday were certainly not what we would expect for the second week of
September with much of Iowa in the lower 50s. Numerous record cold daily high temperatures were
set with Des Moines besting their previous coldest high on 8 September by five degrees. The
featured chart presents the margin by which a new daily record coldest high or warmest low beat the
previous record at that date. The chart shows the most recent as large beat margin for cold high
temperature being 18 April 2018 with a six degree margin. More record cold highs are expected
today.
