Precipitation has been difficult to come by this August as shown by the featured map of percent of average precipitation based on NOAA MRMS data. Only a few small portions of the state are indicated above average. Southern and particularly southeastern Iowa show very low values with some areas receiving little to no rain this month. A front with rain is working its way through the state today, but forecast totals are generally meager.
