The featured map is an unofficial IEM analysis showing a heatmap of NWS issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings so far this year (till Sunday evening). These warnings issued by the NWS are polygons and the featured map rasterizes these onto a grid to produce the analysis. A number of things are interesting about the map including the areas shown in white, which indicate no Severe Thunderstorm Warning so far for that portion of the state. The month of August is yet an active month for these types of warnings, but the near term forecast looks quite and dry until later in the week.
