For the climate locations tracked by the IEM for Ames and Des Moines, the precipitation total for Ames has been higher than Des Moines for the third straight year (so far). The featured chart presents the yearly difference in precipitation between the two. Blue bars are years whereby Ames had a larger total. Interesting that prior to this recent stretch, 9 of the past 10 years to that had higher totals for Des Moines. It will be interesting to see how both sites fair with the ongoing heavy rainfall expected today and Saturday.
