Not that anybody is complaining, but the total number of Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado warnings issued this year by NWS Des Moines continues to be the lowest to date since 2003 (period of reliable and available records). It is interesting to see the second lowest total be the drought year of 2012. The main severe weather season is about to end with the arrival of September and the flatness of the lines each year for the fall period are indicative of that.
