For Des Moines, the meteorological spring season consisting of the months of March, April and May came in as the third warmest on record. It was a distant third with it 3 degree cooler than 1977 and almost 6 degrees cooler than the epic warmth of 2012. Other parts of the state were not quite as warm with Waterloo coming in at 21rst warmest and Cedar Rapids at 62nd.
