Based on yearly Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warning counts, the accumulation for 2015 as issued by the NWS Des Moines has been one of the smaller on record since 2003. The severe weather episode last week was able to push 2015's total into 3rd lowest and pass 2009. As you can see by the flat lines late into the season, these totals are typically not added to in great abundance during November and December. The significant severe weather outbreak Monday evening and into this morning stayed off to our south and west.
