The recent numerous rounds of thunderstorms has relented and the precipitation totals for May have been impressive in some locations in the state. The featured map presents estimates by the NOAA MRMS project showing the highest totals over southern and western Iowa. As with the heavy rains of April, some parts of the state have missed out. Those include southeastern and northwestern Iowa. The near term forecast has cold conditions and only light amounts of precipitation.
