Unusually cool
Posted: 28 Jun 2007 07:16 AM
High temperatures are only expected to make the mid 70s today thanks to some high clouds and cool northerly flow. How common is it to have temperatures in the 70s for this date in June? The featured graph charts out a histogram of reported temperatures for this date from the climate observation sites in Iowa. Values in the 70s fall around the 5-15 percentile range, which means one would expect this type of weather once every 10 years or so. It is slightly more common than having temperatures above 95 degrees based on this chart.
