The featured sequence of images was taken from the Creston webcam yesterday showing explosive thunderstorm development that was common over Eastern and Southcentral Iowa. You can view movies from this camera and others here. The lapses show the vigorous updrafts that make these thunderstorms grow so quickly. If you look carefully, you can sometimes see ice getting ejected out of the top of the really strong updrafts.
