Flood Guidance

The River Forecast Center's of NOAA's National Weather Service issue a product called flash flood guidance to give an indication of how much rainfall would be needed in a certain period to cause flash flooding. (If you click on the image, you will be the full version with color scale.) The guidance indicates at least 2 inches of rain would be needed in a 3 hour period to produce flash flooding.
