The severe weather season has been slow to develop over much of the Midwestern US. The featured map displays the number of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued by each NWS Office so far this year. La Crosse and Sioux Falls have yet to issue one this year and the totals from the other Iowa Weather Forecast Offices can't even top the totals coming from San Diego, CA and Gray, ME! The peak of the season for Iowa is not until late June, so plenty of time remains.
