The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  

  Central Long Island Sound...



  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...



* Until 600 PM EDT.



* At 434 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing

  waterspouts were located along a line extending from 34 nm

  northwest of New Haven Harbor to 17 nm north of Captain Harbor to

  21 nm northwest of Eastchester Bay, moving east at 60 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



* Severe thunderstorms will be near... 

  Mamaroneck Harbor and Execution Rocks around 455 PM EDT.

  Captain Harbor around 500 PM EDT.

  Stamford Harbor and Oyster Bay around 505 PM EDT.

  Norwalk Islands, New Haven Harbor, Long Neck Point and Huntington 

  Bay around 510 PM EDT.

  The Thimbles around 515 PM EDT.

  Penfield Reef, Falkner Island and Smithtown Bay around 520 PM EDT.

  Stratford Shoal, Madison Reef, Mouth of the Housatonic River and 

  Port Jefferson Harbor around 525 PM EDT.

  Westbrook Center around 530 PM EDT.
