1115 AM EDT FRI JUL 7 2017

The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas

  for...

  Fairfield County in southern Connecticut...

New Haven County in southern Connecticut...

Northern Westchester County in southeastern New York...

* Until 215 PM EDT

* At 1113 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause

urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas

will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Rain rates

will reach up to 1 to 1.5 inches per hour at times. Excessive

runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of small

creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses

as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, Danbury,

Meriden, Milford, Wallingford, Shelton, Naugatuck, Southbury, New

  Canaan, Wolcott and Sherman.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small

creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying

spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are

potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded

roads. Find an alternate route.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding

of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
