...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE

MONDAY NIGHT...



The National Weather Service in Upton has expanded the



* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southern Connecticut 

  and southeast New York, including the following areas, in 

  southern Connecticut, Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, 

  Southern Fairfield, and Southern New Haven. In southeast New 

  York, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern 

  Nassau, Northern Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), Southern 

  Nassau, and Southern Queens. 



* From Monday afternoon through late Monday night.



* Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop 

  across the area Monday afternoon into Monday night in 

  association with a slow moving cold front. Multiple rounds of 

  thunderstorms have the potential to move across the same area, 

  leading to flash flooding. 



* Rainfall totals of 1.5 to 2.5 inches are expected across the

  watch area, with locally higher amounts. 



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead

to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action

should flash flood warnings be issued.

  Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, 

  Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic, and 

  Western Union. In southeast New York, Northern Westchester, 

  Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Southern Westchester.
