...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO

3 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING

THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The National Weather Service in New York NY has issued a Coastal

Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 9 AM this morning to 3 PM

EDT this afternoon. The Coastal Flood Warning has been cancelled.

* LOCATIONS...Vulnerable locales along the South Shore Bays of

Long Island, as well as along the ocean beachfront.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...2 to 3 ft today and 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 ft

  tonight.

* TIMING...Minor to localized moderate coastal flooding expected

with the high tide around midday. Moderate coastal flooding

  likely Wednesday night.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Around 1 to 2 ft of inundation is

expected today, with some roads and low lying property near the

waterfront experiencing shallow flooding. Around 2 to 3 feet of

inundation is likely tonight. This could result in numerous

road closures and cause widespread flooding of low lying

property including parking lots, parks, lawns and

homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront. Vehicles

parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely

  become flooded.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves will result in beach

erosion with only minor damage possible to dune structures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides

will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for

flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be

alert for later statements or warnings...and take action to

protect property.
