...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM SATURDAY TO

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING IS CANCELLED...

* LOCATIONS...Along the south shore bays of Nassau and Queens

  counties, including the ocean beachfront.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet above astronomical tides

with locally up to 3 feet through tonight, and 2 1/2 to 3 1/2

feet with locally 4 ft on Saturday.

* TIMING...Moderate coastal flooding expected with this morning

and tonights high tides. Widespread moderate coastal flooding

expected, and locally major possible, with the Saturday through

Saturday night high tides. Water levels may remain elevated well

  after times of high tide.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Inundation of 2 to 3 feet of above

ground level expected today into tonight, and 2 1/2 to 3 1/2

feet above ground level on Saturday in low lying, vulnerable

areas. This will result in numerous road closures and cause

widespread flooding of low lying property including parking

lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements

near the waterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near

the waterfront would become flooded. Flooding would also

extend inland from the waterfront along tidally affected

  waterways.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Elevated water levels and breaking waves

of 4 to 8 feet will likely result in significant beach erosion

Saturday through Monday along the Atlantic ocean beachfront.

Areas of dune erosion and localized washovers are possible.

* UNCERTAINTY...There is medium confidence on the magnitude of

coastal flooding tonight into Saturday night as there is still

a considerable spread in surge model guidance. There is

potential for localized major coastal flooding along the south

shore bays of NYC and LI with the Saturday high tides.

  waterways.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Elevated water levels and breaking waves

of 4 to 8 feet will likely result in significant beach erosion

Saturday through Monday along the Atlantic ocean beachfront.

Areas of dune erosion and localized washovers are possible.

Along Long Island Sound and the north facing portions of the

forks, breaking waves of 3 to 5 feet today into Saturday

morning will likely result in beach erosion, splashover, and

minor damage possible to shoreline structures.

* UNCERTAINTY...There is medium confidence on the magnitude of

coastal flooding tonight into Saturday night as there is still

a considerable spread in surge model guidance. There is

potential for localized major coastal flooding along the Great

South Bay with Saturday high tides.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is expected or

occurring. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert

for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and

property.

Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS

EVENING...

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM SATURDAY TO

2 AM EST SUNDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Vulnerable locales along Lower New York Harbor,

the Kill Van Kull, and the Arthur Kill.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet above astronomical tides

through tonight, and 2 to 3 feet above on Saturday.

* TIMING...Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding expected

with the high tide cycles into tonight. More widespread

moderate coastal flooding expected during the times of high tide

  on Saturday and Saturday night.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Inundation of 2 to 3 feet above ground

level tonight through Saturday in low lying, vulnerable areas.

This will result in numerous road closures and cause widespread

flooding of low lying property including parking lots, parks,

lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the

waterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the

waterfront would become flooded. Flooding would also extend

inland from the waterfront along tidally affected waterways.

* UNCERTAINTY...There is medium confidence on the magnitude of

coastal flooding tonight into Saturday night as there is still

a considerable spread in surge model guidance.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is expected or
