...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR Howard, Northern Hempstead, and
Northern Nevada Counties...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Hempstead County in southwestern Arkansas...
  Howard County in southwestern Arkansas...
  Central Nevada County in southwestern Arkansas...

* Until 200 PM CDT.

* At 1010 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.
  Widespread rainfall amounts of four to eight inches with isolated
  higher amounts in excess of ten inches have fallen so far this
  morning across much of Howard, Northern Hempstead, and Northern
  Nevada Counties. Multiple high water rescues have been reported,
  and numerous roads are flooded and closed, or washed out. Additional
  thunderstorms with heavy rain continue to develop and will shift
  southeast across much of the warned area through the remainder of the
  morning before diminishing. Travel across these areas is not
  recommended through this afternoon. Flash flooding is already
  occurring.

  THIS IS A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR much of Howard, Northern
  Hempstead, and Northern Nevada Counties. This is a PARTICULARLY
  DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Nashville, Prescott, Mineral Springs, Dierks, Umpire, Emmet,
  Blevins, Tollette, Bluff City, Corinth, Athens, Center Point, White
  Oak Lake State Park, McCaskill, Ozan, Cale, Boughton, Muddy Fork,
  Burg and Morris.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to three inches are possible in
the warned area through midday before the heavier rain subsides.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
