...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 115 AM EDT FOR
CENTRAL ALBEMARLE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE...

At 1023 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the area. Rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches have
occurred with localized amounts around 10 inches. Additional heavy
rain is expected with 1 to 3 additional inches expected over the
next couple hours. Streams and creeks will continue to rise
rapidly out of their banks. PLEASE SEEK HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

The Albemarle County Emergency Management reported a water rescue on
US-29 Monacan Trail Road and Plank Road. Another water rescue
occurred at the intersection of Ballard Road and Martin Farm Lane.

The Albemarle County 911 Center has reported numerous roads with
high water. Route 29 at Redhill Road is closed with 2 to 3 feet of
water over the roadway. A mudslide was reported along Barracks
Road.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Charlottesville, Crozet, Free Union, Westmoreland, Hollymead, Ivy,
North Garden, Boonesville, Newcomb Hall, Flordon, Carrsbrook,
Barracks, Scott Stadium and White Hall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
