The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The City of Charlottesville in central Virginia...
  Central Albemarle County in central Virginia...

* Until 115 AM EDT.

* At 930 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the area. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches have
  occurred with localized amounts around 7 inches. Additional heavy
  rain is expected with 1 to 3 additional inches expected over the
  next couple hours. Streams and creeks will continue to rise
  rapidly out of their banks. PLEASE SEEK HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

  The Albemarle County 911 Center has reported numerous roads with
  high water. Route 29 at Redhill Road is closed with 2 to 3 feet of
  water over the roadway. A mudslide was reported along Barracks
  Road.

  Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is
  already occurring.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
  Charlottesville, Crozet, Free Union, Westmoreland, Hollymead, Ivy,
  North Garden, Boonesville, Newcomb Hall, Flordon, Carrsbrook,
  Barracks, Scott Stadium and White Hall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
