...THIS IS A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR ELLICOTT CITY AND
CATONSVILLE...

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM EDT FOR
EAST CENTRAL HOWARD AND SOUTHWESTERN BALTIMORE COUNTIES...

At 719 PM EDT, significant flash flooding is ongoing in the area as
a result of fairly widespread 6 to 12 inches of rain that have
fallen this afternoon and evening. Additional rain is falling but
has significantly decreased in intensity. But floodwaters continue
to move through the warning areas, and runoff will continue for at
least a couple more hours, with potential for renewed flooding.
REMAIN AT HIGHER GROUND UNTIL THE RAIN HAS ENDED!

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Ellicott City and Catonsville.
This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ellicott City, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Arbutus, Ilchester and Oella.

This includes the following streams and drainages...Dead Run...Red
Hill Branch...Patapsco River...Sucker Branch...Maidens Choice Run...
East Branch...Little Patuxent River and Herbert Run.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
