...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY CONTINUES FOR PICKENS COUNTY...PLEASE AVOID
ALL UNNECESSARY TRAVEL AND OBEY ALL BARRICADES...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Pickens County in Upstate South Carolina...

* Until 1100 PM EST Thursday.

* At 452 PM EST, Pickens County Emergency Management reports 64
roads are now closed due to dangerous flooding across the county.
Additional closures are likely later this evening downstream of
Keowee Dam due to significant releases from Lake Keowee.  These
roads include Jones Mill Rd, Browns Bottom Rd, and Hughes Bend Rd.

**Please avoid unnecessary travel and obey all barricades.**

THIS IS A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR PICKENS COUNTY, INCLUDING
EASLEY, LIBERTY, NORRIS, SUNSET, and the city of PICKENS. This is a
PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life-threatening flash flooding due to earlier heavy rain.
           Significant runoff and rises on area streams continue and
           additional flooding is expected through tonight.

  SOURCE...Emergency management.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
           GROUND NOW! Life-threatening flash flooding of low-water
           crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways,
           streets and underpasses is ongoing.  Flooding of some
           homes, businesses, and other structures adjacent to streams
           and low-lying areas remains possible; seek higher ground
           NOW!

* Two to four inches of rain has fallen earlier this morning with
  storm-total rainfall of 4-6 inches across the county.  The heavy
  rainfall threat has ended across the county but light to moderate
  rain will persist for several more hours.

* Some locations that will continue to experience flooding include...
  Easley, Clemson, Pickens, Central, Liberty, Norris, Six Mile,
  Jocassee Gorges, Lake Jocassee and Table Rock State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Numerous roads, parking lots and bridges will be threatened by heavy
rain and rapidly rising streams and creeks. Please pay close
attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area. Obey all
barricades, even if water is not currently over the road. Barricades
are in place for your protection and indicate areas where flooding
can occur rapidly and without warning.
