...THIS IS A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR AMELIA, POWHATAN, WESTERN
NOTTOWAY, AND NORTHEASTERN LUNENBURG COUNTIES...

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM EDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN LUNENBURG...WESTERN NOTTOWAY...AMELIA AND POWHATAN
COUNTIES...

At 800 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. 5 to 7 inches of rain
have fallen over the warned area with close to 8 inches near
Burkeville. Numerous roads are closed and there have been reports of
significant flooding across the warned area. This is an extremely
dangerous situation, please do not travel unless it is absolutely
necessary as many roads are impassible.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY! This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS
SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Powhatan, Crewe, Victoria, Amelia Courthouse, Nottoway, Jetersville,
Tobaccoville, Morven, Chula, Macon, Ballsville, Nutbush, Winterham,
The Falls, Maplewood, Fergusonville, Deatonville, Holly Hills, Lodore
and Lake Powhatan.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
