The featured map presents NWS season snowfall departures (in inches) for their primary climate tracking sites. Negative values indicate a below average accumulation of snowfall. Much of the Midwestern US is shown below average with the largest departures found over Minnesota into Michigan. Some of these same areas had near record snowfall just last year. There is still certainly plenty of time this cold season to see snowfall events and we'll even see a chance of accumulating snowfall later this week.
