If our weather this week was not wild enough with extreme heat and humidity, some morning storms on Friday forced a bore / gravity wave event over southern Iowa. These happen when a wave becomes trapped underneath a strong temperature inversion and with high humidity values, a cloud is able to form as the wave train passes. Sadly, the only good lapse the IEM got is the featured one from the KCRG-TV webcam in Ottumwa.
