After a chilly April Fool's day, temperatures quickly warmed and made for an amazing start to the month. Sadly, the pendulum has swung to the opposite and we are stuck with rather chilly temperatures at the moment. The featured chart tells the tale of the two Aprils we have experienced thus far with hourly temperatures for the Ames Airport shown, The blue band represents the range between the daily low and high temperature climatology. The early April warm nicely shows up above this band with about three days with even the lowest temperature for the day above the average high for the date! We will have another chilly night into Wednesday morning before temperatures start to moderate.
