As shown by the featured map, the NWS has a Blizzard Warning in effect for today with snow and blowing snow creating whiteout conditions. This is all thanks to a very large storm system whose surface low pressure center is currently near Waterloo this Friday morning. This storm marks the end of a very quiet stretch of winter weather this January. The near term forecast after this storm does not look too bad, with only slightly cooler temperatures next week.
