Lacking September Humidity

Posted: 24 Sep 2020 05:36 AM

The increase in humidity on Wednesday was somewhat noticeable compared with the past 10 days of dry air, but dew point values still weren't much more than 60 degrees. The featured chart presents the daily climatology of mixing ratio (a measure of humidity) for Ames along with this year's values and the departure from average (bottom panel). The September departures have been almost all negative with a few days at or near climatological minimums for the day of the year. The dew point is expected to hover in the lower 60s for the next few days before dropping again this weekend.
