Missing Heavy Rainfall

Posted: 08 Jun 2016 04:58 AM

Widespread heavy rainfall has been very difficult to come by this year and while much of the state is not too far from normal for the year, some areas are rather dry and have missed out on the heavy rainfall events that are important to the yearly accumulation of precipitation. The featured chart displays five bins equally weighted by rain volume for Ames. The largest bin of 1.32 inches and higher has yet to accumulate for a day this year. The whole number bar labels represent the number of days and the percentage difference represents the accumulation difference for that bin from climatology.
