It has been a while since our last winter storm, but winter has returned dumping the heaviest snowfall totals over eastern Iowa as shown by the featured map. The western half of Iowa missed out as the storm system rapidly intensified while its center was east of the state. There was plenty of wind with this storm system as well making for travel difficulties.
