The featured image shows the peculiar rainfall hole that has developed in Iowa centered over Des Moines. Southeast and extreme Western Iowa has not faired much better with totals generally below half an inch. A cluster of storms is adding to those totals in SE Iowa this Thursday morning, but very limited chances of rain exist for the remainder of the month. It is not looking good.
