Even with a cool pool of air near the surface, bright sunshine is able to warm temperature 30 degrees warmer than the low temperatures. With any sunshine, it is difficult to keep temperatures below freezing this time of year. Well, we are now half way through March and there doesn't appear to be any sign of spring in the immediate future. We will just have to be patient!
