It was a clear night with generally light winds. While that usually
sounds like a great thing, given the time of the year, it helped
cultivate one more night of very cold temperatures generally a few 
degrees below zero early this morning. Fear not though as far 
northwest Iowa, of all places, was the only spot above zero thanks to 
southwest winds beginning to bring in warmer air. 

Today will remain a few degrees below normal, in the 20s, but will
be trending in the right direction thanks to breezy southwest winds.
The rest of the work week will be quite pleasant and above normal for
this time of the year as highs in the 40s to near 50 make their way
across Iowa by Friday and Saturday. Say good bye to the snow! Or at
least most of it. 

Unfortunately though, a low pressure system will track across the area
later Sunday into Monday, bringing with it periods of rain and snow.
The best chances for accumulating snow will be across northwest Iowa,
but details are still coming into focus. That system will leave in its
wake colder temperatures, but fortunately not of the Arctic variety
the state has experienced lately. Highs early next week will generally
reside in the mid 20s to mid 30s.
