In most cases it felt much more like a summer morning than a mid to late September morning with seasonally warm lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Northwest Iowa was the lone exception as a cold front began to make its way into the state. As one might expect with a front moving through, temperatures and winds as of late this morning ranged quite a bit with northwest Iowa in the upper 50s to low 60s with northwest winds and the rest of the state in the 70s with southwest winds. The cold front will slowly move to the southeast through the day, but should only significantly curb highs across the northwest. Highs will as a result range from the low to mid 70s to low 90s from northwest to southeast. A few showers and storms are likely to occur this afternoon as well, anywhere from central to southeast Iowa along and near the front and may stick around southern Iowa overnight. Unfortunately, cool temperatures will not be seen through the week with highs in the 80s to low 90s expected through the start of the weekend before a nice cool down back into the 60s and 70s by early next week. The next widespread opportunity for precipitation will move on through late Sunday into Monday ahead of the cooler temperatures. $$ CURTIS
