Back in July, I made a news item posting with an accounting of AWOS 80+ degree dewpoint values. Unfortunately, the values for July 2004 were incorrect :( So here is the corrected numbers, along with updates to include the entire summer. (The error only appeared for July since I was using a different data source for that month and not the 1 minute archive.) I have double checked these values and they *should* be correct. I feel really bad about that error... First up, an accounting of the number of days an Iowa AWOS site reported a dew point at or above 80 F per month and per year. For example, if sites SDA and RDK both reported values >= 80 today, that would count as 2 points. This table gives you a better accounting for which sites were potentially the trouble makers that year. The values in this chart are basically 'days per years in which the station reported a dewpoint >= 80 F'. 95 96 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 _SOUTHWEST_________ CBF COUNCIL BLUFFS 1 2 2 23 23 3 21 0 1 7 CSQ CRESTON 7 0 1 0 11 0 0 0 0 4 RDK RED OAK 8 1 3 31 2 5 12 1 3 1 SDA SHENANDOAH MUNI 5 4 2 29 9 5 23 9 7 7 _WEST______________ ADU AUDUBON 14 2 1 4 9 3 0 0 4 9 AIO ATLANTIC 11 1 5 7 9 1 7 0 5 9 CIN CARROLL 6 3 5 7 14 0 8 6 11 0 DNS DENISON 0 0 3 4 9 0 10 0 4 2 HNR HARLAN 0 0 0 0 0 0 5 0 1 2 _NORTHWEST_________ LRJ LE MARS 6 2 8 11 12 0 16 2 0 2 ORC ORANGE CITY 12 3 4 2 12 3 5 0 1 5 SHL SHELDON 9 2 16 5 16 4 7 3 1 1 SLB STORM LAKE 3 1 4 4 0 0 0 0 0 4 _NORTH_____________ AXA ALGONA 7 1 9 1 4 0 6 3 2 1 CAV CLARION 7 1 4 7 9 0 10 2 3 0 EBS WEBSTER CITY 9 3 9 1 11 1 6 17 2 0 FOD FORT DODGE 0 0 0 1 1 0 M M M M _NORTHEAST_________ CCY CHARLES CITY 10 2 2 9 11 0 0 1 0 1 DEH DECORAH 3 0 0 3 4 0 5 1 0 2 IIB INDEPENDENCE M M M M M M M 0 0 4 OLZ OELWEIN 20 7 2 4 7 2 3 1 0 0 VTI VINTON M M M M M M M 5 4 0 _EAST______________ CWI CLINTON 1 0 2 1 7 0 M M M M MXO MONTICELLO MUNI 5 1 2 1 4 0 5 4 0 6 _SOUTHEAST_________ AWG WASHINGTON 7 3 8 18 1 0 3 19 18 19 EOK KEOKUK MUNI 11 4 4 5 0 1 10 0 0 7 FFL FAIRFIELD 12 5 12 0 7 19 12 1 1 4 FSW FORT MADISON 2 4 4 6 19 1 10 4 24 8 ICL CLARINDA 3 1 1 9 13 21 15 1 3 3 MPZ MOUNT PLEASANT M M M M M M M 2 0 8 MUT MUSCATINE 8 0 0 0 1 2 7 17 13 1 _SOUTH_____________ CNC CHARITON 8 4 6 1 8 6 10 6 4 11 _CENTRAL___________ BNW BOONE MUNI 16 4 13 3 12 0 8 4 5 3 IKV ANKENY 4 3 1 0 2 2 3 3 5 0 OXV KNOXVILLE 10 1 7 3 7 1 8 6 1 5 PEA PELLA M M M M M M M 1 1 1 TNU NEWTON MUNI 9 3 6 12 12 0 4 2 2 4 After the first time I posted this table, I was asked about the ASOS sites and how they compared. Here are the Iowa ASOS sites for the years the IEM has data for. Again, this is the number of days with an observation >= 80F. 01 02 03 04 ALO WATERLOO 3 5 0 0 AMW AMES 1 1 2 0 BRL BURLINGTON 3 0 0 1 CID CEDAR RAPIDS 3 2 0 0 DBQ DUBUQUE 1 1 0 0 DSM DES MOINES 2 0 0 1 DVN QUAD CITIES 3 1 0 1 EST ESTHERVILLE 2 0 0 0 IOW IOWA CITY 3 1 0 0 LWD LAMONI 1 0 0 1 MCW MASON CITY 4 1 1 0 MIW MARSHALLTOWN 0 1 2 0 OTM OTTUMWA 2 0 1 1 SPW SPENCER 2 0 0 0 SUX SIOUX CITY 2 0 0 1 If you have any questions, please let me know...
